This bill prohibits insurers and health maintenance organizations (HMOs) from including certain requirements in their insurance contracts with healthcare providers. Specifically, it prohibits insurers and HMOs from requiring that all members of a provider group be included in their network, placed in the same network tier, or included in all of the insurer's or HMO's products. It also prohibits provisions that limit the ability to use benefit designs to encourage members to seek services from higher-value providers, contain most-favored-nation clauses, or limit the disclosure of fees or allowed amounts to insured individuals or their providers. Any existing contracts with such provisions will be null and void as of January 1, 2022, though the rest of the contract will remain in effect.
