This bill establishes which actions may be brought against firearm, firearm accessory, and ammunition manufacturers, distributors, importers, trade associations, sellers, or dealers. It prohibits lawsuits seeking damages resulting from the criminal or unlawful use of these products by a third party, but allows lawsuits for breach of contract or warranty, damage or harm caused by a defective product, and injunctive relief to enforce valid statutes or ordinances. The bill also requires a court to award reasonable attorney fees and costs to a defendant if the court finds that an action is prohibited under the law. The bill is effective July 1, 2021.
