This bill removes the requirement that certain veterans and their dependents must have resided in Wisconsin for at least 5 consecutive years to be eligible for tuition and fee remission at University of Wisconsin System schools or technical colleges. Instead, it requires that the veteran was a resident of Wisconsin at the time of entry into military service or that the dependent was a resident of Wisconsin immediately preceding enrollment. The bill also clarifies the use of "nonresident tuition" and requires veterans and dependents to apply any available federal educational assistance to their tuition and fees before receiving the state remission.
