This bill expands health insurance coverage for certain legislative employees in Maine. Beginning November 1, 2023, the state will pay a share of the individual premium for the standard health insurance plan offered to legislative employees who work in regularly recurring positions available only for a portion of the year, regardless of whether they are in active work status, unless they are covered by another health insurance plan. The state's contribution will be 95% for employees with a base annual pay of $50,000 or less, 90% for those with a base pay between $50,000 and $100,000, and 85% for those with a base pay of $100,000 or more. This is not intended to provide an incentive for employees to delay resignation.
