This bill directs the Department of Health and Human Services to take necessary actions, including adopting rules, amending Medicaid managed care contracts, and applying for state plan amendments or waivers, to provide Medicaid coverage for maternity care, including doula care. Doula care is defined as continuous physical, emotional, and informational support provided by a trained professional to a pregnant person before, during, and after childbirth, with the aim of improving birth outcomes, preventing stillbirths and infant deaths, and reducing maternal morbidity and mortality.
