AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to medical residency training

This bill amends the public health law to require hospitals in New York that offer medical residency training in obstetrics, gynecology, internal medicine, or women's health to provide training that follows the accreditation requirements for obstetrics-gynecology. The training must include experience with all reversible methods of contraception, as well as management of complications. The bill also requires that the training include experience with induced abortions, except for residents with moral or religious objections. Hospitals that fail to comply with these requirements will be ineligible for reimbursement under the relevant provisions of the public health law.
