This bill requires hospitals in New York that offer medical residency training in obstetrics, gynecology, internal medicine, and women's health to provide training that follows the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association's special requirements for obstetrics-gynecology. This includes structured training on all methods of family planning, such as contraception and sterilization, as well as experience in managing complications. The bill also mandates that residents receive training in performing induced abortions, except for those with moral or religious objections, and that all residents are trained in managing complications of abortion. Hospitals that fail to comply with these requirements will be ineligible for reimbursement under the applicable public health law.
