This bill establishes the New York State Muslim American Advisory Council, which will advise the legislature on ways to advance the role and civic participation of Muslim Americans in New York state. The council, composed of 10 members representing community and faith-based organizations, as well as appointees from the state legislature and the governor, will recommend strategies to better integrate Muslims socially, educationally, culturally, and economically. The council will also facilitate relationship-building in the Muslim community, identify ways to disseminate information on state programs and services, and bring faith-based issues to the legislature's attention.
