This bill increases the penalties for obstructing traffic on trunk highways, airports, and transit systems in Minnesota. It amends the state's public nuisance law to make it a gross misdemeanor to interfere with or obstruct traffic on freeways or public roadways within airport boundaries, with some exceptions for law enforcement and other officials. The bill also increases the maximum sentence for unlawfully interfering with a transit operator from 90 days to one year in jail and raises the maximum fine from $1,000 to $3,000. The new provisions will take effect on August 1, 2023.
