This bill authorizes the commissioner of transportation to conduct a study on airborne ultrafine particles (UFPs). The study will analyze the impacts of certain large hub commercial airports on UFPs, investigate the characteristics of these particles, identify measures to reduce emissions from aircraft and airport operations, and assess the potential health effects and effectiveness of mitigation measures. The commissioner will coordinate with the commissioner of environmental conservation, the commissioner of health, and other agencies to provide data and assistance for the study. The commissioner shall submit a report with recommendations and findings to the state government within two years of the bill's effective date.
