This bill requires all public institutions of higher education in Massachusetts to develop and adopt policies to accept scores of 3, 4, or 5 on Advanced Placement (AP) exams for course credit, with the ability to require a score higher than 3 only with evidence that it is necessary for the student's success in a related or more advanced course. The policies must be posted on the institutions' websites and submitted to the Department of Higher Education, which will annually review the policies and report its findings and recommendations to the state legislature. The first annual report is due by July 1, 2023, and Section 1 of the bill must take effect within 3 months of the bill's effective date.
