This bill revises the law establishing the Office of Food Security Advocate and sets certain conditions for the use of funds appropriated to emergency food organizations. Specifically, it requires that 10% of emergency food organizations' funding be spent on New Jersey agricultural products, and up to 30% can be used for administrative and capital costs. Additionally, at least 60% of the funding must be used to support local distribution agencies, either through purchasing food, providing cash funds, or reimbursing costs. The bill also requires emergency food organizations to develop data-informed plans for equitably supporting local distribution agencies and to provide monthly reports on their expenditures to the Office of Food Security Advocate.
