This bill establishes Joint Operations Centers along the southern border of the United States. These Centers will provide unified coordination hubs where law enforcement from multiple federal, state, local, and tribal agencies can collaborate on matters related to implementing coordination and communication for field operations, coordinating operations across participating agencies, and coordinating and supporting border operations, including deterring and detecting criminal activity such as transnational criminal organizations, illegal border crossings, and drug trafficking. The bill also requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to consult with participating agencies and report to Congress annually on the efforts to establish the Centers, the resources used, the key operations coordinated, any interoperability and communication gaps identified, and recommendations for improved coordination and communication.
