This bill defines “muzzle-loading firearm,” as that term applies to hunting, to mean a firearm that shoots a projectile loaded exclusively from the muzzle. Current law authorizes the use of muzzle-loading firearms for certain hunting activities but does not define “muzzle-loading firearm.” Administrative rules promulgated by the Department of Natural Resources provide that, during a hunt that is restricted to muzzle-loading firearms, no person may use a firearm other than one with a solid breech plug attached with threads and that is capable of being loaded only from the muzzle.
