This bill expands the scope of public works subject to prevailing wage requirements and concerns prevailing wage law requirements for public institutions of higher education. Specifically, it: - Expands the definition of "public work" to include construction, reconstruction, demolition, alteration, custom fabrication or repair work, or maintenance work that is paid for in whole or in part through "take-out financing" provided by a public body, and work undertaken on a project that has received certain types of financial assistance from public bodies. - Requires each worker employed by the selected bidder on a construction project intended for use by a public institution of higher education to be paid the prevailing wage determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development. - Subjects public institutions of higher education to the prevailing wage requirements of the New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act if the construction project is intended for the institution's use at the time of construction. - Provides that if a public institution of higher education violates the prevailing wage requirements, it will be subject to the penalties defined in the Prevailing Wage Act.
