The bill mandates that police employers must provide or arrange for this training with sufficient frequency to prevent any disruption to an officer's on-duty employment, and explicitly states that an officer cannot be transferred or have their employment impacted due to the employer's failure to provide the required training. Additionally, the bill specifies that an employer's lack of training provision will not prevent an officer from carrying a firearm while off-duty. The training must include an initial comprehensive course and annual instructional updates in the use of deadly physical force and firearms.
