This bill directs the Department of Education to gather information about how much math is required for students to graduate high school across the state, using existing funds. Specifically, the department must determine how many high schools require only two years of math, estimate the costs of increasing that requirement to three years for those schools, count schools that already require more than two years of math, and identify schools that allow credits from other math courses, like advanced 8th-grade classes or early college courses, to count towards graduation. The department is then required to present this data in a report to the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs by January 15, 2026, and that committee can then propose new laws based on the findings.
