The notification must be made in-person or by phone, within specific timeframes: by 5 p.m. on the same school day if the report is received during regular instruction hours, or by noon the next calendar day if the report is received after instruction hours or on a non-school day. The notification requirement applies only when the report is received by specific school personnel, such as licensed staff, Title IX coordinators, principals, or administrators, and does not apply to reports involving a pupil's own parent or guardian. Additionally, the bill mandates that school boards must annually provide parents and guardians with information about their rights to access records regarding school employee discipline. The bill will first apply to credible reports of sexual misconduct received on its effective date, aiming to enhance parental awareness and child protection in educational settings.
