This bill renames the Land Application Contaminant Monitoring Fund to the Well Contamination Response Fund and expands its purpose to include addressing contamination in private drinking water wells from hazardous substances, such as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are a group of man-made chemicals. The fund can now be used for testing these wells, cleaning up contamination (remediation), installing and maintaining water filter systems, connecting affected homes to local water supplies, and providing bottled drinking water. The bill also includes appropriations to facilitate this fund transfer and provide initial funding for its new purposes.
