The bill also clarifies that applications for public entities to affiliate with PERA are subject to board approval, and it specifically includes Denver School of Science and Technology charter schools and any charter schools that contract with the Denver Public Schools Board of Education as part of the DPS division. Additionally, it establishes a special rule for members of these specific charter schools to purchase service credit for their years of employment, allowing them to purchase credit for more than ten years under certain conditions, with these changes taking effect on July 1, 2026, and some provisions on June 1, 2026.
