This bill amends Florida Statute 395.003 to allow certain specialty-licensed children's hospitals to provide additional services under specific circumstances. Specifically, a children's hospital already licensed for pediatric cardiac catheterization and open-heart surgery can now provide cardiovascular services to adults who were previously treated as children for congenital heart disease, or to adult patients referred for specialized congenital heart disease procedures, without needing a separate adult cardiovascular services license. Furthermore, a specialty-licensed children's hospital with neonatal intensive care unit beds, located in a county with a population of 1.75 million or more, can now offer obstetrical services for up to 10 beds for labor and delivery. These obstetrical services are limited to pregnant women of any age whose pregnancy or delivery is documented as high-risk due to fetal characteristics or conditions, or where there's medical advice indicating the fetus may require perinatal intervention, and these services must comply with the agency's rules for hospital obstetrical departments.
