This bill establishes the State Technology Working Capital Trust Fund within the Department of State Technology, which will serve as a place to hold money received by a state data center from billing other government entities for services, as well as funds received by the Department of State Technology itself, any interest earned, and cash advances from these customer entities. The money in this fund is intended to pay for the operations of the department and the state data center. The bill also specifies that, as required by the Florida Constitution, this trust fund will automatically end on July 1, 2017, unless it is terminated sooner, and it will be reviewed before that date. This legislation is set to become effective on July 1, 2013, provided that another related bill, SB 1762, or similar legislation, is also passed and becomes law during the same legislative session.
