This bill amends existing education law concerning charter school tuition payments by cities and towns for elementary-aged students. Specifically, it introduces a provision that if an elementary-aged student attending a charter school lives in a small community (with 3,000 or fewer inhabitants) that has its own elementary school but belongs to a regional school district for middle and high school, the student's home community will pay the charter school tuition. This tuition payment will be the lesser of either the amount calculated for the community's own elementary school district or the amount calculated using the foundation spending percentage for the regional school district the community is part of. This aims to adjust tuition responsibilities for small towns with unique regional school district arrangements.
