This bill proposes to amend Section 6B of Chapter 115, a law related to veterans' benefits, to provide an additional annual payment of $1,500 to surviving spouses who are not remarried and are receiving Dependency Indemnity Compensation (DIC) from the Veterans Administration, a benefit paid to the survivors of servicemembers who died in the line of duty or as a result of a service-related disability. This additional payment, to be made in two installments on August 1 and February 1, will be available from the date a surviving spouse submits a completed application, offering further financial support to those whose veteran spouses served in the U.S. armed forces.
