This bill proposes to amend Chapter 90 of the General Laws by adding a new section that prohibits motor vehicle safety checkpoints that specifically target a particular type of vehicle, or any decoration or adornment on the vehicle or its rider, within the commonwealth. This restriction applies to checkpoints aimed at the general public traveling in motor vehicles, as defined in section 1 of Chapter 90, but it does not apply to vehicles used for public or common carrier services, trackless trolleys, semi-trailers, tandem units, or low-speed motor vehicles used for transporting construction or commercial goods, nor does it apply to vehicles exceeding dimensional or weight limits set by specific sections of Chapter 85.
