This bill establishes the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Project within the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to address Alzheimer's disease by accelerating treatment development, creating an integrated state plan, coordinating care for individuals with the disease, ensuring the inclusion of at-risk ethnic and racial populations to reduce health disparities, coordinating with federal bodies, and providing information and coordination of research and services across state agencies. The project will be responsible for creating, updating, and evaluating the state plan, and will conduct an annual assessment of the state's progress. Additionally, an advisory council on Alzheimer's disease research and treatment will be established, composed of various designees from state agencies, patient advocates, caregivers, healthcare providers, researchers, and representatives from voluntary health associations, which will meet quarterly and advise the project on state policy, providing an annual report with recommendations and evaluations of state-funded efforts.
