This bill authorizes the town of Stoneham to grant additional licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages in theaters that have a seating capacity of 300 or more, allowing these beverages to be consumed on the premises. Specifically, Stoneham can issue licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages, or separate licenses for the sale of wines and malt beverages (beer and wine), to be drunk on-site within these larger theaters. These new licenses will be governed by Chapter 138 of the General Laws, which covers alcoholic beverages, with the exception of Section 17, and importantly, any licenses granted under this bill will not count towards the existing limits on the number of licenses set by that section, providing an exception to current regulations.
