This land is currently managed by the department of conservation and recreation for conservation and recreational uses, but this bill permits its use for installing and maintaining a raw water transmission main, which is a pipe carrying untreated water. This action is allowed even though it might normally be restricted by certain existing laws (sections 34 to 37 of chapter 7C of the General Laws), and it must adhere to specific requirements outlined in sections 2 through 5 of this bill, along with any other conditions set by the commissioners.
