This bill proposes to amend the municipal unemployment insurance law in Massachusetts. Specifically, it would prevent the payment of unemployment benefits to individuals who previously provided services to or on behalf of an educational institution, under the same circumstances as described in the existing law. Additionally, the bill would allow for a reduction in the amount of unemployment benefits payable to an individual if they are receiving a pension, retirement, or other similar periodic payment from a defined benefit plan that is based on their previous work for the employer or a base period employer, as long as certain conditions are met. Payments received under the Social Security Act would not be subject to this reduction.
