This bill amends Chapter 71 of the General Laws to require that school districts or public schools that offer sexual health education provide medically accurate and age-appropriate education. The bill defines "age-appropriate" and "medically accurate" and specifies that the sexual health education must teach the benefits of abstinence and the importance of contraception, help students develop healthy relationship and communication skills, and be appropriate for all students regardless of gender, race, disability status, or sexual orientation. The bill also amends Section 32A to require schools to adopt a written policy ensuring parental or legal guardian notification of the comprehensive sexual health education that the school will provide and the right of the parent or legal guardian to withdraw their child from all or part of the instruction.
