This bill amends the Massachusetts General Laws to (1) explicitly prohibit discrimination against employees based on pregnancy or conditions related to pregnancy, including lactation or the need to express breast milk for a nursing child, (2) require employers to provide reasonable accommodations for such conditions, and (3) establish a process for employees to request and employers to provide such accommodations. The bill also requires employers to provide written notice to employees of these rights and directs the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination to develop training and public education efforts on the new law. The bill takes effect on April 1, 2018.
