Bill Summary
Relative to providing for alternative penalties for failure to send children to school. Education.
AI Summary
This bill proposes to amend the existing law to provide alternatives to fines for failure to send children to school. Specifically, the bill allows the court to order a person in control of a child, who fails to attend school, to attend a counseling program or other appropriate program or services, as determined by the court. If the court finds that the child and the person in control have successfully completed the court-ordered programs or services, the court shall dismiss the charge against the defendant. The bill also requires that charges under this section be assigned to an expedited docket for disposition.
