This bill aims to empower patients and entrepreneurs with real transparency on healthcare costs. It requires the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) to annually release detailed data on the 100 most common inpatient stays, the 10 most expensive inpatient stays, the 100 most common outpatient procedures, the 10 most expensive outpatient procedures, physician and other healthcare provider utilization and payment data, and the 100 most commonly prescribed drugs and the 10 most expensive drugs. The data will include information such as allowed amounts, submitted charges, and comparisons by provider, specialty, location, and type of service. The bill does not require CHIA to build a consumer tool but mandates that the data be made publicly available in a raw but usable form on CHIA's website.
