This bill aims to provide immunity from prosecution for certain first responders, such as law enforcement, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, and fire department personnel, who provide or transfer opioid antagonists (substances that counteract the effects of opioids) to individuals at risk of opioid overdose, along with instructions on their administration and use. This is intended to further the success of opioid intervention programs by enabling first responders to take proactive measures to protect individuals from potentially fatal opioid-related overdose events.
