This bill authorizes the Secretary of State to provide a new general issue of license plates in Maine. The key provisions include: 1. Requiring the Secretary of State to begin issuing the new plates no later than May 1, 2025 and complete the issuance before July 31, 2026. 2. Specifying the design and features of the new plates, including the use of a buff neutral shaded background, blue identification numbers and letters, and the representation of an eastern white pine tree and a blue star. 3. Changing the location where the plates are manufactured from the State Prison to the Bolduc Correctional Facility, and referring to the individuals involved as "residents" rather than "inmates". 4.
