Bill Summary

CONCERNING CREATING A WORKING GROUP TO DEVELOP A DEFINITION OF RECIDIVISM.

AI Summary

This bill creates a working group to develop a definition of recidivism to be used by state entities, including departments, divisions, agencies, offices, or commissions that collect data or report on recidivism. The working group will consist of representatives from various state agencies, an institution of higher education, and a community-based organization. The working group must develop the definition of recidivism by January 15, 2025, and provide it to the identified state entities. Starting July 1, 2025, these state entities must use the working group's definition of recidivism in their recidivism data collection and reporting, though they may also report additional metrics. The bill also amends the law related to the Division of Youth Services' recidivism data reporting requirements.
