This bill authorizes the commissioner of capital asset management and maintenance to complete a land exchange with Mary Faugno-Wiles in the town of Brookfield. Specifically, the bill allows the conveyance of a 35,000 square foot parcel of land currently owned by the state to Faugno-Wiles, in exchange for a parcel of land on South Maple Street of comparable value. As part of the transaction, if the parcels are not exactly equal in value, Faugno-Wiles will be required to pay the difference based on independent appraisals commissioned by the commissioner and reviewed by the inspector general. The bill requires that the appraisals and the inspector general's review be submitted to legislative committees at least 15 days before the land transfer is executed. Any payment from Faugno-Wiles will be deposited into the General Fund, and Faugno-Wiles will be responsible for all transaction-related costs such as appraisals, surveys, document preparation, and filing fees. The transaction will be conducted in consultation with the state police department and will be subject to conditions and restrictions determined by the commissioner.
