This bill establishes the Interdisciplinary Advisory Board for the State House Complex, a 13-member board designed to improve occupational health and safety within the State House and Burton M. Cross Building and their grounds. The board will include representatives from various organizations and sectors, such as legislative staff, executive branch employees, occupational safety professionals, historic preservation experts, and a union steward, with members appointed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House. The board's primary responsibilities include ensuring the health and safety of legislators, staff, and the public, advising the Legislative Council and the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, and creating a public method for submitting health and safety concerns through the Legislature's website. The board will meet quarterly, receive staffing support from the Department of Labor, and submit an annual report by the first Wednesday in December detailing its findings and recommendations. The director of the Bureau of General Services and a representative from the Board of Occupational Safety and Health will serve as co-chairs, and members will serve three-year terms. A special provision allows the board's first report in December 2025 to include findings from its initial establishment.
