AI Summary

This bill requires the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents to contract with a vendor to provide virtual mental health services for students at UW System institutions with 30,000 or fewer full-time undergraduate students. The virtual mental health services must complement existing campus mental health resources and offer expanded access beyond typical business hours. The vendor must include evidence-based clinical wellness content, behavioral health coaches, and licensed mental health providers experienced in serving higher education students. The Board of Regents must prioritize selecting a vendor with at least 5 years of experience providing mental health services to higher education institutions and a proven track record of collaborative software that supports communication with campus clinical staff. The chosen vendor will be required to submit an annual report to the Board of Regents and the state legislature, detailing statistics about student usage of the virtual mental health services both system-wide and on a per-institution basis. This bill aims to improve mental health support and accessibility for students at smaller UW System campuses by introducing a comprehensive virtual mental health service option.
