This bill modifies legislative interim activities for the 2026 interim period, primarily by limiting the number of bills interim committees can draft and recommend, restricting their meeting times, and in many cases, prohibiting them from meeting or recommending legislation altogether. Importantly, members of the General Assembly appointed to these interim committees will not be entitled to per diem or travel expenses during the 2026 interim. The bill also reduces appropriations for the legislative department, including the General Assembly, Legislative Council, and Committee on Legal Services, by a total of $453,137 and decreases full-time equivalent (FTE) positions by 3.3, with these changes contingent on another bill, House Bill 26-1333, becoming law.
