For contracts exceeding $50,000, the bill maintains the requirement for competitive bids to be publicly opened and read, with bid deposits. The bill also introduces new provisions for the procurement of specific services like telecommunication and data cabling, allowing them to be handled through OSD or other established procurement methods unless it's deemed in the best interest of the project to use the standard competitive bidding process. The bill also adjusts monetary thresholds for various procurement procedures and repeals Section 46 of Chapter 44 of the General Laws.
