This bill directs the Maine Connectivity Authority, which is responsible for broadband internet expansion and access in Maine, to work with the ConnectMaine Authority to figure out how to transfer the ConnectMaine Authority's duties and responsibilities to the Maine Connectivity Authority. This review needs to be completed, and recommendations for any necessary changes to state law must be developed by October 1, 2027. The Maine Connectivity Authority is then required to submit a report with these recommendations, including any proposed new laws, to the legislative committee that oversees energy, utilities, and technology by January 15, 2027, so that the committee can consider them for the 2027 legislative session.
