This bill establishes a grant program through the Office of School Safety (OSS) specifically designed to help technical college district boards create and submit interactive critical mapping data for their campus buildings to local law enforcement agencies and the OSS. The grant will fund the creation of site-specific mapping data that enhances security and provides situational awareness for first responders. The mapping data must be compatible with existing public safety platforms, not require additional software purchases, and include detailed location information such as building numbers, floor levels, suite designations, and room numbers. The technical college system board president will work jointly with district boards and local law enforcement agencies to apply for these grants.
