This bill amends the Texas Insurance Code to provide a one-time opportunity for certain retirees who previously voluntarily terminated their enrollment in the Texas Public School Employees Group Insurance Program to reenroll in a health benefit plan offered under the program. Specifically, the bill allows retirees who are eligible for Medicare and whose initial enrollment was terminated between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2019, to reenroll on or before December 31, 2023. The bill requires the Teacher Retirement System of Texas to adopt rules to implement this provision by November 1, 2021, and the new reenrollment option expires on September 1, 2024.
