This bill amends the Texas Insurance Code to allow certain retirees who previously voluntarily terminated their enrollment in the Texas Public School Employees Group Insurance Program to reenroll in the program. Specifically, the bill provides a one-time opportunity for retirees who are eligible for Medicare, whose initial enrollment was terminated between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2019, to reenroll in the program on or before December 31, 2023. The bill requires the Teacher Retirement System of Texas to adopt rules to implement this provision by November 1, 2021, and the reenrollment opportunity expires on September 1, 2024.
