Bill Summary

AN ACT to amend 118.33 (1) (a) 1. f. of the statutes; relating to: personal financial literacy high school gradua- tion requirement.

AI Summary

This bill amends Wisconsin's statutes to allow high school students to earn a required 0.5 credit in personal financial literacy in additional ways. Currently, students must complete a course covering topics like money management, saving, investing, credit, debt, and insurance. The bill adds provisions that allow school boards to award this credit if a student successfully completes a financial literacy program offered by a financial institution located within the school, provided the school board deems the program sufficient. Additionally, students can earn the credit by successfully completing an advanced placement (AP) course in business with a personal finance component.
