Bill Summary

(This measure has not been amended since it was introduced. The summary has been expanded because action occurred on the measure.) (Sec. 1) This bill permits the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), upon licensee request, to extend for up to three consecutive two-year periods from the expiration date of the extension originally issued by FERC the time period during which the licensee must commence construction of project numbered 12642. FERC may also reinstate the license effective as of its expiration date if the period required for commencement of project construction has expired before enactment of this Act. The first extension authorized under this Act shall take effect upon that expiration date.

AI Summary

This bill allows the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), a government agency that regulates hydroelectric power, to grant extensions for starting construction on a specific hydroelectric project, numbered 12642. If the project's license holder requests it, FERC can extend the deadline for commencing construction up to three times, with each extension lasting two years, starting from the end of the original extension. Furthermore, if the deadline for starting construction has already passed before this bill becomes law, FERC has the authority to reinstate the license as if it had expired on its original date, and the first extension granted under this new law will then take effect from that original expiration date.
