Bill Summary

To extend the deadline for commencement of construction of a hydroelectric project. (Sec. 1) This bill authorizes the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to extend by six years the time period during which Jordan Hydroelectric Limited Partnership is required to commence construction on the Flannagan Dam and Reservoir Hydroelectric Project located in Dickenson County, Virginia. In addition, FERC is authorized to reinstate the construction license if it is expired.

AI Summary

This bill allows the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil, to grant extensions for the start of construction on hydroelectric projects. Specifically, it permits FERC to extend the construction deadline for the Jordan Hydroelectric Limited Partnership's Flannagan Dam and Reservoir Hydroelectric Project in Virginia by up to six years, in three consecutive two-year periods, provided the project continues to meet requirements for good faith, due diligence, and public interest. Furthermore, if the construction license for this project has already expired, FERC is authorized to reinstate it and apply the new extension period from the original expiration date.
